Garbage bin

Postby Macnmill on March 3rd, 2010, 5:26 pm

Millie has just discovered the joy of overturning the bin in the kitchen and emptying the contents everywhere, preferably in her stomach. We made the mistake of putting something really attractive (cheese melts) in the bin.

Apart from moving the bin out of reach (behind the child-proof fence), any suggestions for getting her to stop tipping it over and going through it?

my only suggestion is to buy a bin they can't get into.

Basil loved going through the bin and nothing we did stopped it, that is until we bought a bin he couldn't move or open. We now have a wooden one with lift up lids and the plastic bin inside, we did find the stainless steel ones with the black lift top lids were ok too, quite heavy and the lids were very firm plastic not flimsy at all.

good luck ;)

we had a stainless steel one with the lid and pj quickly learned how to open it, nothng we did stopped her either. now we just hang a plastic bag inside the cupboard door under the sink. all locked safely away from beagles and we have peace of mind knowing that strange russling sounds are not coming from them eating out of the bin!! (most like they are doing somehting else naughty, but not eating out of the bin  )

We put a couple of bricks into the bottom of ours and that made it harder to tip. However, as much as it worked for one beagle, the other was too determnined, and we ended up buying a bin that would fit in a cupboard.
