Beagles rule/beagles bluff other patrons

I think the baying ARRRROOOH beagles may have frightened other patrons away from this leash free area.We did see several people looking on :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? unsure if it would be safe to enter ....The BLUFF of the beagle Pack...

I love it!!!

One of my beagles used to absolutely light up when she saw another beagle. Another breed was just ok but a beagle. Fantastic!

wish we had a leash free park nearby. I know we have some land but it's nice to let them run and play with others.

maybe we could all get together one day at a leash free park close to all.

the trouble is that the leash free are not always suitable for beagles. This one at mornington is but Mads got fleas(not impressed)and all the other dogs there were entire males and wanted to mount the cutest beagles all the time, absolute pain in the ars......and its just a boring square of land.every time a couple would start to play a male would interrupt them to hump.......Hastings has a fantastic dog area but its not fenced so thats on leads only for beagles....sumerville have a new lease free and it is a great space but it isnt really suited to small dogs or beagles .we went yesterday and i loved it but there were lots of spots mine could get under fences and thru into neighboring properties, they had to be watched very carefully.(they have done a great job here just need a few additions onto bottom of some fences and gates.)

I'm told that Eltham Lower Park has a really good off-lead area (behind the miniature train I think), good fencing under the ground to keep out the bunnies. I haven't been there so can't say for sure but the person who recommended it has a small dog.

If your beagles are ok in a park with other dogs, then Warringal Parklands in Rosanna (Melways 32) is really good as from Plymouth Street south along the river is off-lead. There is a horse-shoe bend in the river (Fannings Bend) and if the dogs are playing in the wide part of the horse-shoe its easy to catch them on the narrow part.

I'm lucky I worked really hard with Mac when he was a puppy and he is now reliable off-lead. I'd never have him off in the street but in any park his need to stay with his pack outweighs his need to follow a scent even with major temptation. (Yes, I know its hard to believe but it is possible if you get them young.)

Millie is ok off-lead if there are dogs around, as she wants to play with them rather than chase a scent but I wouldn't trust her everywhere.
